A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques (i.e., a genetically engineered organism). GMOs are used to produce many medications and genetically modified foods and are widely used in scientific research and the production of other goods. (Wikipedia)
This is to give a fair idea about GMO to the ordinary person.
The debate about the sustainability of agriculture with the GMO has been going on since inception. There have been countries that have adopted whiles others still reject GMOs for the merits and demerits.
GMO is said to have several benefits including an increase in shelf life of harvest, increase in health benefits of crops and others. It is, however, also known to have demerits.
What do you know about GMO?

Now the big question is;
Is GMO the Solution to Sustainable and Productive Agriculture in Africa?
By this question we mean, can African farmers adopt GMOs as farm inputs and have a sustainable high productivity from their farms. Better still, is GMO the answer to the sustainable high productivity of farm?

GMO is not meant for Africans we have better soil and seed to triple our annual yields. What we need as a continent is subsidy farm Machine in order to enhance us to produced on a large scale. The higher U sow the higher u reap. GMO is suicidal bomb design to kill Africans and make profit from us. When we do soil fertility analysis between Ghana and isreal you see that Ghana has better soil with lower crops yields in vice verse. We need education but not GMO.
Given several decades of consulting on both gmo and non gmo grains. There is a simple answer gmo is not good for any sustainable operation. Gmo is less nutritional based , non gmo has some issues but the resulting grains are far healthier and sustainable. These facts are supported by independent research , the paid for research of corporations is voided by indelendent research every time.
Thanks for the question. It will take someone who is well informed about both GMO and none GMO to give a fair response to the good question posted. When both the demerits and merits are fully made known as well as any other alternative is made available, I think it will be of a great help for one to compare and contrast to be able to give a fair response. It’s really a good for thought,
