Africa’s greatest challenges in Agriculture is worthy of discussion.
Agriculture is the mainstay of many Africans and the improvement therein means a better life for many Africans. Upon many interventions by African governments and International bodies, Agriculture in Africa is still struggling to make the necessary impact in the lives of many.

African governments are expected to make certain budget allocations for agriculture. There is international support. Science and technology seem to be contributing their part.
What therefore is/are the problems that threaten agriculture in Africa?

Is it finance, information, lack of policy, poor implementation, lack of research, fate, culture, religion….?

What therefore is/are the problems that threaten agriculture in Africa?
I see the following challenges:
- lack of a political will
- low fertility soils
- low investment in research
- inadequate improved planting materials
- reduced interest in agriculture by youths
- crop pests and diseases
- enclavement of production zones
Africa’s problem in Agriculture I thiNK is lack of research. Since Agriculture is a science we have to keep researching on new and sustainable ways of Agriculture either than our one way type of Agriculture . We have to learn the science and apply it through quality research. Thank you
The greatest African challenges in agriculture include financial support not given to the youth, no or low education to farmers in terms of extension personnel’s, low grade or varieties of crops use for planting, poor policies by government, storage and processing is also a big challenge and ignoring teaching of agricultural science in basic schools.

Thanks for the great topic, am David from Uganda. I think budget allocations in Africa towards agriculture are small compared to military budgets.
Secondly, implementation is another problem the industry is facing, the little money is stolen up from top to bottom making it hard for the farmers to receive fund.
Thirdly, poor marketing of products due to poor networking in almost most African countries.
