Location, land, labour etc more over army worm infestation to deal with. Is it a good Idea I enter or should I divest elsewhere. I need all the help I can get coz I love Agriculture. ThaNx

Great, you love agriculture. That is a good place to start from.
Your choice of crop to cultivate may depend on basically;
1. Your preference
2. Location of farm
3. Cost of production
4. Weather pattern
5. Time of cultivation.Please tell us where you intend to locate your farm and the size of the farm.

Many crops are grown and do well in southern Ghana because of the weather. If you are looking to invest, you may want to consider short-term crops like vegetables or maize, which give quick returns.
Long term investments in perennials like cocoa and oil palm will require you acquiring the land for yourself for the long term production. They make good returns too if all appropriate technology is used.
Let’s narrow it down to the crop, then we carry on from there.
Will you go for short term or long term and which crops are you thinking of?

Hello, I’m a new farmer and I have 4 acres of land in the Volta Region planning to do maize production but i have very little knowledge about it though I would get easy access to labour. Could you please help me with the type of seedlings for better yield, fertilizer application, pest control and the budget for the production. Thanks

I think a new topic will help you track discussions on your request. Anyway please refers to the post below for some varieties of maize and ideas about their yield.
